Avif Express

Installation and Activation

Manual Installation

  • Download the ZIP file from the GitHub repository and extract it.
  • Upload the extracted folder to your WordPress site’s wp-content/plugins/ directory.
  • Navigate to the Plugins page in your WordPress dashboard and activate Avif Express.

Automatic Installation

  • Log in to your WordPress dashboard using an administrator account.
  • Go to Plugins > Add New.
  • Use the search bar on the top right to search for Avif Express by Pijush Gupta.
  • Click Install, and then Activate once installation is complete.

How to Select the Correct Engine

If your local server supports AVIF conversion, select Local. Otherwise, choose Cloud from the Conversion Engine dropdown menu.

Converting Existing Images

  • In your WordPress dashboard, click on Avif Express from the sidebar menu.
  • Click the Convert button in both the Upload Directory and Theme Directory rows.

Using the Cloud Engine

  • Go to Avif Express from the WordPress sidebar.
  • Navigate to the Advanced tab by clicking the gear (⚙️) icon.
  • Click the API row, then click Get API Key.
  • Choose a plan that suits your website needs.
  • Copy the API key from RapidAPI and paste it into the API Key input field.
  • Click the Update button to save your settings.

Enable Auto-Conversion on Image Upload

  • Go to Avif Express in the WordPress sidebar.
  • Enable the checkbox next to Automatically convert images to AVIF format on upload.

Rendering AVIF Images Instead of Standard Images

  • Open the Avif Express settings from the sidebar menu.
  • In the Rendering row, select Active from the dropdown menu.
